Quick summary

FTMO sells three routes to a simulated FTMO Account for forex and CFD trading: a 2-Step Challenge, a 1-Step Challenge and an Instant Account with no evaluation.[2][9]

Each is a one-time fee listed in euros, from €79 to €2,999 depending on the program and account size, and only the 2-Step fee is refunded, with the first Reward.[1][7][8]

All accounts are simulated; FTMO pays Rewards of 80% or 90% of simulated profit, depending on the program.[9][10]

FTMO publishes a list of restricted countries; US residents are served through FTMO US, a separate service run with OANDA that this review does not cover.[13][16]

This page sets out the rules, costs, payout terms and country availability we have recorded for FTMO from official sources. Each verified value has a numbered reference to the official page it comes from, listed under Official sources. Values we have not verified are marked "Not yet confirmed".

Editorial score

Editorial score: 82.0 out of 100

Weighted total of the five criteria below, each scored 1 to 5 from verified data.

CriterionWeightScore
Transparency & disclosuresRules, the simulated account type and a published restricted list give a clear answer for every country we track, with US clients sent to the separate FTMO US service. The 1-Step page still labels its consistency limit as the Best Day Rule, which Trading Objectives says it replaced.[4][6][9][13] 25% 4 / 5
Trading rulesEvery rule is defined with a formula, a reset time and worked examples on one Trading Objectives page, and results are shown in the Account MetriX. Rules differ across three programs and a legacy Best Day Rule still applies to older accounts, which adds complexity.[2][6][11] 25% 4 / 5
Fees & total costsEach plan has a single one-time fee shown in one pricing table, with no activation or recurring fees and a stated refund policy. The total cost to a funded account is not stated as a figure, and fees are in euros for USD accounts.[1][7][8] 20% 4 / 5
Payout termsOne FAQ gives the reward ratios, when the first claim can be made, minimums, methods, per-method limits and processing times. It does not state how often later Rewards can be requested.[10] 20% 4 / 5
Support & accessibilityFTMO lists four platforms and offers live chat, WhatsApp and email around the clock plus phone support with stated hours, in 21 languages. Its FAQ is organized by topic and searchable.[12][15] 10% 5 / 5

Our scores measure how clearly, completely and consistently a firm documents its terms before you pay. They do not measure whether the terms are cheap, generous or likely to suit you.

Strengths and points to consider

Based only on the firm's published rules and terms, with references to the official sources.

Strengths

  • The 2-Step fee is refunded when you request your first Reward.[8]
  • Each plan has a single one-time fee; FTMO states it charges no additional or recurring fees.[7]
  • Trading Objectives define every rule with its calculation, reset time and worked examples.[6]
  • News releases are not restricted during the evaluation phases or on Swing accounts.[11]
  • Support is listed as available 24/7 by live chat, WhatsApp and email, in 21 languages.[15]

Points to consider

  • All accounts, including the FTMO Account after you pass, are simulated; Rewards are based on simulated profit.[9][10]
  • 1-Step and Instant Account fees are not refundable.[8]
  • On the 2-Step route the reward ratio is 80% by default; 90% requires meeting Scaling Plan or Premium Programme conditions.[10][14]
  • On the Instant Account the maximum loss limit trails intraday and does not reset after a Reward withdrawal, so a withdrawal can itself breach the limit.[6][10]
  • Fees are listed in euros, including for accounts denominated in US dollars.[1]
  • US residents cannot use the ftmo.com programs; they are served through FTMO US, which has separate terms and fewer platforms.[13][16]
