Simulated and evaluation accounts

Evaluations, and at some firms the "funded" stage, may use simulated (demo) accounts; check each firm's terms. In a simulated account:

  • trades are not placed in the live market and do not use real capital;
  • results in a simulated account may differ from what the same trades would produce in a live market;
  • any payout is paid by the firm under its own terms, not earned from trading real money, and the firm may be able to change or end those terms.

Words such as "funded", "trader" or "capital" in a firm's marketing do not by themselves mean you will trade real money.

Live funded accounts

A firm may state that it moves certain traders to an account trading the firm's own capital in the live market. Whether, when and on what terms that happens is set by each firm, and the firm may be able to change it. Do not assume you will ever trade real capital unless the firm's official terms say so for your account.

Fees and outcomes

  • Evaluation, activation, reset and subscription fees may not be refundable; check each firm's terms.
  • Passing an evaluation is not guaranteed.
  • Passing an evaluation does not guarantee a funded account, continued access to an account, or any payout.
  • A firm's rules may allow it to close an account or refuse a payout in situations described in its terms.

Trading risk

Trading futures, forex and other leveraged products in your own live account carries a substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for everyone. You can lose more than you expect, and in some products more than your initial deposit. Past results, including those of other traders, do not indicate future results.

Accuracy and changes

Firms may change their rules, prices and availability at any time. We show when each value was last verified and link to the official source, but information may be out of date or incomplete. Always read the firm's current official terms before you pay. If you find an error, please tell us.

Availability and local rules

We record whether a firm says it accepts customers from a given country. This is not legal advice about whether a product is lawful or suitable where you live. Local laws and regulations may apply to you; check them yourself.
