Editorial policy

This page explains the rules we follow when we research, write and update content on PropRule Ledger.

Independence

  • No paid placement. Firms cannot pay to be listed, reviewed, ranked or scored, or to have content changed.
  • No pre-approval. Firms do not review or approve our content before it is published.
  • Commissions do not affect content. Scores follow our public scale, which does not consider commissions. Comparisons include firms we have no commercial relationship with.
  • Clear labels. Each firm is labeled "Affiliate partner" or "No commercial relationship".

Sources and accuracy

We use each firm's official public pages as our sources and link them from every specification table. We do not estimate or fill in values we could not confirm, and we show when sources conflict. Every review lists genuine drawbacks as well as strengths.

Reviews are based on the firm's public documentation unless a page clearly states otherwise. We do not claim to have traded with, passed an evaluation at, or received a payout from any firm we cover.

Corrections

If you think something on this site is wrong or out of date, please tell us through our contact page. It helps to include the page address, the value in question and a link to the official source.

  1. We check the report against the firm's official source.
  2. If the report is correct, we update the value, its status and the date it was verified, and update the article's "last updated" date.
  3. If official sources disagree, we mark the value as "Sources conflict — under review" until it is resolved, and the value is not used for scoring.
  4. If a correction affects a score, the score is recalculated using the same public scale.

Reports from firms are handled in the same way as reports from readers.

What the dates mean

Published
When the article was first published.
Updated
When the article's content was last edited, for example new text, a correction or a layout change. An update does not by itself mean the data was rechecked.
Data last verified
When the firm's data on that page was last checked against the firm's official sources. This changes only after such a check.
Last verified (on a single value)
Each value also carries its own verification date. A value that is due for a recheck shows "Last verified [date], recheck pending".
